For Parents

Parents are excellent partners in their child’s educational journey. Clear communication and expectations are essential. Let’s get together and set smart goals for your child based on their strengths and needs.

At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents.

Tutoring Services

I offer a wide range of tutoring services—from periodic homework help to remediation to homeschooling—dependent on the needs of your child. While my primary content area is high school math, I am comfortable with the gamut of ages and subjects. We often start by taking a brief grade readiness assessment or by reviewing a recent test. That way, I can gauge a student’s confidence, skills, methods, and deficits. From there, we can set a plan for rebuilding competencies or tackling upcoming assignments.

Test Prep Services

Standardized testing and college readiness testing can be intimidating, but these tests follow regular patterns and their questions are often predictable. I have plenty of experience with ACT, SAT, and AIR test prep. Familiarity with the format and question types is often the key to success. I use controlled, shortened pretests and posttests to quickly and accurately gauge a student’s progress. My method of taking tests in their original format, troubleshooting problems, and optimizing techniques is generally much more efficient, enjoyable, and successful than slogging through a prep book or course.

Students with IEPs

I have worked with dozens of students with IEPs in both public school settings and private settings through the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program. I can give advice for creating substantive and reachable IEP goals or work with your student on their existing goals in math, financial literacy, organization, and other subjects.

Other Services

I am happy to provide other services as needed, such as summer enrichment, study skills training, mental wellness support, and more. Please do not hesitate to bring other issues to my attention.

Pricing

After we talk about your and your child’s goals, I hope to conduct a first session with your child FOR FREE. After that, my fees are on a sliding scale. Pricing is generally around $60 per hour in-person and $50 per hour virtual. Services, needs, duration, number of students, and materials will affect pricing. Please contact me to determine session pricing for your child.

I just wanted to thank you. [J] never saw himself as a “math guy” until you came along. Now he’s excited about math class for the first time.
